Rockstar Games Pulls Fan-Made "Charlie Kirk Assassination Mission" from "GTA Online," Blocks Keywords

Game developer Rockstar Games recently confirmed the removal of a fan-made "Grand Theft Auto Online" mission. The controversial level was accused of deliberately recreating a real-world assassination attempt on political figure Charlie Kirk, drawing significant public attention and debate.

According to Variety, the player-created mission, titled "We Are Charlie Kirk," has been quietly removed from the game. Concurrently, Rockstar has added "Charlie Kirk" to its list of prohibited terms, preventing players from using the name in future mission titles. This measure is seen as the developer's initial step to prevent similar content from reappearing.

It remains unclear when Rockstar first became aware of the mission and took action. However, related gameplay videos were uploaded to YouTube over a month ago. Given that "GTA Online" introduced its player-created mission feature with the "A Safehouse in the Hills" update on December 10, 2025, it is speculated that the controversial mission may have appeared shortly after the feature went live.

IGN also reported that even though the original mission has been deleted, related videos can still be found on YouTube. Furthermore, at least one other fan-made assassination mission with nearly identical gameplay was also discovered to have existed. These missions all required players to act as an assassin, sniping targets from a high vantage point, with designs highly similar to the real-world incident.

As of now, Rockstar Games has not issued an official statement regarding the incident. Other potentially related content can still be found in the game's mission catalog, indicating that the developer faces significant challenges in fully purging controversial missions.
