The HOBBY Division of BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd. of Japan, which releases the Gunpla "RG (Real Grade)" series incorporating exterior armor, frames, interlocking armor, and new technologies into the 1/144 scale, announced the latest product from the "Gundam 45th Anniversary x Hatsune Miku" collaboration project, "RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0 [Hatsune Miku Ver.]", scheduled for release in May 2026. This product will only be sold exclusively on the official Bandai online store PREMIUM BANDAI.
The "RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0 [Hatsune Miku Ver.]" is a modification of the previously released regular version kit, with thoroughly revamped part molding colors to represent Hatsune Miku's iconic colors such as gray, black, blue, and pink. Even the beam saber has added clear green beam effects to represent "leeks." Additionally, accessories include new "realistic decals" with original designs such as the collaboration project logo, which can be applied to various parts of the exterior armor to enhance detail.
Other specifications are the same as the regular version kit, featuring a precisely designed movable frame structure at 1/144 scale, which can be assembled layer by layer from the movable frame and truss to the exterior armor, and utilizes precise part separation and color division technology to bring color differentiation and rich layering to different sections of the parts. Weapon accessories include two beam sabers, a beam rifle, a shield, and a Hyper Bazooka, each featuring precise sculpting, movable mechanisms, and the ability to be mounted on various parts of the body.
The articulation adopts a design where "all visible joints can genuinely bend," expressing the realism of mechanical structure operation. Parts of the armor, such as the thighs, feature interlocking structures that slide as the joints bend, while the front armor of the calves, etc., have independent movable designs, allowing for more natural and fluid movements. At the same time, the Core Fighter is still housed in the abdomen within this structure, and with the newly developed auxiliary joint mechanism, the Gundam can also have flexible abdominal articulation, and the Core Fighter can separate from the Gundam and transform into a fighter jet.
