Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company HOBBY Division is set to release its latest product, the "HG 1/144 Gustav Karl (Type 00)," from the animated film "Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway's Flash" on February 7, 2026. On the eve of its release, the official channels have unveiled new information, including the product's box art design and actual sample images.
The FD-03 Gustav Karl is the Earth Federation Forces' latest mass-produced general-purpose mobile suit, redesigned from the "RGM-89 Jegan" for ground combat. Its performance surpasses that of the standard Jegan. As early as Universal Century 0096, numerous Federation ground units began pre-deploying the "Type 13" under the guise of operational testing. By UC 0105, the improved "Type 00" had entered mass production and was gradually being deployed within the Earth Federation Forces. This unit is characterized by its heavy armor design and is equipped with a beam rifle and beam saber of the same type as the Jegan, along with a Jesta shield.
While inheriting the design from the previously released "Gundam UC" version, the "HG 1/144 Gustav Karl (Type 00)" features almost entirely redesigned parts, reinterpreted for the "Hathaway's Flash" version with precise color separation, part division, and the latest articulation mechanisms. The proportions of each armor piece are more natural compared to the UC version, reducing the bulky, pieced-together feel. This includes the shoulder armor and skirt armor, which feature more appropriate dimensions, resulting in a more refined and cool appearance.
The hip joint connection axis incorporates a sliding mechanism, expanding the range of motion for both legs. The left shoulder shield can defend in multiple directions via an articulated axis. Armaments include a beam rifle, beam saber, and rocket launcher; the beam rifle and rocket launcher can be mounted on the backpack, while the beam saber hilt can be stored in the side skirt armor.
