The "HG (High Grade)" series, released by the HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., which boasts the most comprehensive lineup of mobile suits and faithfully recreates their anime appearances, has announced the latest product, "HG 1/144 Gundam Barbatos Adapt," from the new short animation "Urdr-Hunt" commemorating the 10th anniversary of "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans," slated for release in May 2026. This product will be sold exclusively on BANDAI's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The "ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos 6th Form" suffered severe damage during the major battle in Edmonton at the end of the first season. The Tekkadan engineers, facing a lack of resources, temporarily repaired it into the "Gundam Barbatos Adapt." It operated in this form on the front lines until Teiwaz later assisted in its modification into the "Gundam Barbatos Lupus." However, due to issues such as malfunctioning thrusters and significant wear on the frame, even using its signature weapon, the "Mace," could cause the mobile suit to fall apart. Consequently, its main weapon was changed to the "Long Sword" provided by Teiwaz, also serving to collect combat data.
The "HG 1/144 Gundam Barbatos Adapt" features improvements based on the "Gundam Frame" parts used in previous products. A movable axis has been added to the neck, the torso's shoulder and abdominal structures have been improved, and a swing mechanism has been incorporated into the hip joints. The PC (poly-cap) parts used in the old version have also been entirely replaced with KPS material parts, significantly enhancing the entire model's articulation, joint strength, and durability.
All exterior armor parts utilize completely new molds to recreate the battle-damaged repair sections, presenting a completely different appearance from the 6th Form. In addition to the flexible articulation provided by the improved frame, the thrusters on both sides of the waist can also rotate up and down. The armament includes one large and one small "Long Sword," which can be recreated in their state of being suspended on the outer side of the thrusters. Furthermore, the product features an outer box printed with brand-new full-color illustrations.
