Derived from the "Nendoroid" series of chibi-style pre-painted figures released by Japanese figure manufacturer GOOD SMILE COMPANY, the "Nendoroid Large" series, which presents figures in a massive 20 cm height, has announced its latest product, "MIKUDAYO," based on "Character Vocal Series 01: Hatsune Miku," is scheduled for release in early March 2026. Pre-orders for this product begin today at the Good Smile Company Online Shop and authorized physical retailers.

The electronic yokai "MIKUDAYO," which resembles Hatsune Miku, was originally a mascot costume created by SEGA for Tokyo Game Show 2011 to promote the "Nendoroid Hatsune Miku" product. However, its design, featuring plump cheeks, vacant eyes, and an inexplicably hunched posture, presented a stark contrast to the cute Nendoroid product. This subtle sense of horror quickly garnered attention, becoming a meme on Japanese social media. Despite its ridiculed appearance, the copyright holder seized this opportunity to register the trademark, allowing the frequently fan-created MIKUDAYO to become an official promotional character, even leading to the creation of dedicated programs for it.
The "Nendoroid Large MIKUDAYO" is based on a modified version of the previously released standard edition. Its size has doubled from the original 10 cm to 20 cm, fully amplifying features such as its plump cheeks, vacant eyes, and inexplicably hunched posture, resulting in an eerie yet somewhat cute appearance. The overall paint scheme and articulated joint design for the limbs are essentially the same as the standard specifications. Accessories include a fabric "Nendoroid 20th Anniversary Ambassador" sash.
