The seventh installment in the "Jurassic" franchise, which debuted last summer and reportedly grossed $860 million, has continuously fueled speculation about the development of its next chapter. Recently, Swrve 'Jurassic' News & Content, a fan page on X (formerly Twitter) dedicated to the series, revealed that the eighth film is reportedly titled "Jurassic World: Liberation."
Previous rumors suggest that Gareth Edwards, who helmed the last installment, is highly likely to return to direct. Its three lead stars — Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, and Scarlett Johansson — are also expected to reprise their roles. The film is tentatively slated for a June 9, 2028 release, though this remains unconfirmed by the studio.
The eighth installment is not expected to begin filming until next year, as Johansson is currently committed to filming two sequels: "The Batman: Part II" and "The Exorcist: Deceiver." These projects are reportedly occupying her schedule for the remainder of this year, pushing her availability to rejoin the dinosaur-filled franchise until next year.
