The seventh installment in the "Scream" franchise, "Scream 7," is set to arrive in theaters this week, and the official final trailer — the second overall — has finally dropped. "Scream 7" sees franchise veteran Kevin Williamson take the director's chair, with original protagonist Sidney Prescott, played by Neve Campbell, returning to star after sitting out the sixth installment.

New additions to the cast include Anna Camp, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, Joel McHale as Sidney's husband, and Isabel May as Sidney's daughter. Other returning cast members from previous installments include Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Courteney Cox, a franchise staple who has appeared in every film.

Returning characters, some of whom were previously killed off, include Scott Foley as Roman, Sidney's half-brother from "Scream 3"; Matthew Lillard as Stu Macher from the original "Scream"; Skeet Ulrich as Billy Loomis, Sidney's boyfriend from the original "Scream"; and David Arquette as Deputy Dewey Riley.

"Scream 7's" script continues to be penned by Guy Busick, co-writer of the previous two installments. James Vanderbilt, who co-wrote the previous two films with Busick, is credited for the story concept. Rumors suggest that the plot of "Scream 7" will involve AI and Deepfake technology, which would explain the return of several previously deceased characters.
