TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product in its popular die-cast toy series "Soul of Chogokin," the "GX-38R IRON GEAR," from the anime "Combat Mecha Xabungle," scheduled for release in August 2026.
The IRON GEAR-class land battleship appearing in the series is a special, cutting-edge battleship equipped with a transformation mechanism. It can transform into the largest Walker Machine robot form in history, reaching an astonishing height of 128 meters after transformation. Its sheer hand-to-hand combat capabilities alone can cause immense destruction, and it can also utilize the multiple cannons and missiles originally mounted on its hull. This product represents the first ship of the IRON GEAR class, piloted by the protagonist Jiron and his companions.
The "Soul of Chogokin GX-38R IRON GEAR" is a re-release of the classic 2007 product, coinciding with the announcement of the experimental anime "BLUE GALE XABUNGLE." In its battleship form before transformation, the IRON GEAR measures an impressive 45 cm in length, and in its transformed WM form, it stands at a towering 28 cm. The entire model is constructed with numerous die-cast alloy parts, providing a substantial feel with a weight exceeding 1 kg. In WM form, various joints can be posed to recreate dynamic combat stances.
Despite incorporating a precise transformation mechanism, the IRON GEAR maintains excellent sculptural proportions, with high-density hatches, armor seams, and other rich details sculpted across its entire exterior. In battleship form, multiple hatches, including those on the bridge's top, can open to reveal internal mechanical structures. The bridge (which forms the lower jaw in transformed mode) can be reproduced in both its first and second-generation designs using interchangeable parts. All turrets and gun barrels throughout the ship feature movable mechanisms. The chest hangar can open to store the included mini-models of "Xabungle" and "Walker Gallia."
