The popular die-cast action figure series 'METAL BUILD', released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY, the 'Strike Freedom Gundam REVIVAL Ver.', scheduled for release in June 2026. This product will be available through general retail channels.
The ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam is the mobile suit piloted by protagonist Kira Yamato in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY. Equipped with the Hyper Deuterion Engine, which generates a massive amount of energy, it can deploy a large array of high-power beam weapons such as high-output beam rifles, 'Xiphias 3' rail cannons, and 'Calidus' multi-phase beam cannons. It even features the 'Super DRAGOON' Mobile Weapon Wing on its back, which, combined with Kira's Super Coordinator abilities, allows it to simultaneously lock onto numerous enemy units and launch an all-range attack using a total of 8 'Beam Assault Cannons' on both sides.
The 'METAL BUILD Strike Freedom Gundam' has been a popular product for TAMASHII NATIONS since its initial release in 2015, undergoing several color variations, revisions, and continuous updates. Its design was reinterpreted by a team of designers including Yoichi Sakamoto, Koma, and Hiroyuki Hirose. Compared to the standard mechanical weapon image in the original work, it was given the image of an angel fighting a devil (Destiny Gundam) and a holy knight evolving from a knight (Freedom Gundam). The entire body armor and the 'Super DRAGOON' Mobile Weapon Wing on the back feature more dynamic and less rigid contours, showcasing a powerful heroic stance.
This latest product fundamentally retains the design of the 2015 initial release, with changes only to the product packaging and the addition of a support stand. The overall design has been thoroughly supervised by Satoshi Shigeta, who served as the animation mechanical drawing director. The entire movable frame is constructed from alloy parts with gold electroplating, and the full body armor is finished with a highly layered and substantial color coating, adorned with cool original body markings, while also featuring flexible articulation.
Regarding its armaments, the two 'Beam Sabers' can be connected at the hilt to recreate the double-bladed mode, just like in the original work. The 'Beam Shield' effect utilizes a double-layered structure of molded plastic parts combined with PET film. The two 'Beam Rifles' achieve a cool appearance with a total length of 27 cm through the model's original connection mechanism, and the rail cannons on both sides of the waist are also equipped with an original barrel deployment mechanism. All 8 'Beam Assault Cannons' on the back can be detached and displayed radially using dedicated stand parts.
