After nearly half a year of delays, the highly anticipated sequel to the video game adaptation, "Mortal Kombat II," finally dropped its second trailer and main key art (pictured below) early this morning. The film was originally slated for release last October.

Simon McQuoid, director of the previous installment, returns to helm the sequel, with Jeremy Slater, showrunner for Netflix's "The Umbrella Academy" and Marvel's "Moon Knight," penning the screenplay. The story continues the deadly Mortal Kombat tournament: if Earthrealm loses ten consecutive tournaments, Shao Kahn will invade and conquer the planet. Raiden must once again rally a new generation of defenders to fight for Earthrealm's survival.
