The cinematic adaptation of the "Star Wars" series "The Mandalorian," titled "The Mandalorian & Grogu," is set to hit the big screen in just three months. However, industry outlet Variety recently reported that distributor Disney Pictures is not optimistic about the film's prospects. Disney is reportedly concerned that, beyond fans of the original series and "Baby Yoda," most general audiences may not be interested in purchasing tickets.

Furthermore, the Super Bowl commercial for "The Mandalorian & Grogu" (see link above), which aired recently, received a less-than-ideal reception. Super Bowl trailers typically feature actual footage from the upcoming film, clearly informing audiences about the movie. However, this film's Super Bowl spot was a satirical, mock advertisement mimicking the style of a Budweiser commercial. While intended to be humorous, it primarily left audiences confused. This suggests that Disney's investment of millions of dollars for a few seconds of Super Bowl airtime failed to achieve its intended marketing objectives.

However, Disney is reportedly much more optimistic about another new "Star Wars" spinoff film, "Star Wars: Starfighter," starring Ryan Gosling and directed by Shawn Levy, who also helmed "Deadpool & Wolverine." Internal test screenings for the film are said to have received positive feedback, with many believing it recaptures the original spirit of the "Star Wars" franchise. Gosling's performance has also garnered significant praise, suggesting the film has a greater chance of satisfying fans than "The Mandalorian & Grogu."
