Taipei Syntrend "Good Smile Model Festival 2026 in Taiwan" Event Report: A Close-Up Look at a Huge Lineup of New Models from "Mecha Smile," "Nendoroid," and More!

Just as the Lunar New Year festivities conclude, Good Smile Company's annual grand event arrives! The Toy People editorial team today visited the "Good Smile Model Festival 2026 in Taiwan," hosted by the Japanese model manufacturer Good Smile Company. This year, the event makes its debut at the 12 Cubes exhibition space on the first floor of the Syntrend Creative Park. It consolidates the "Mecha Smile," "Good Smile," and "Sales" sections—which were separated into two locations in the Underground Mall last year—into one easily navigable space. Fans of all ages can enjoy free admission to get a close-up view of a massive number of new product samples and in-development prototypes. After the exhibition, visitors can head straight up to the "Good Smile Company Flagship Store" on the 6th floor, making it incredibly convenient!

The lineup of works on display this time is as spectacular as ever. Building on the momentum from last year's 20th anniversary of the super-popular Q-style character figure series "Nendoroid" and the upcoming 20th anniversary of the virtual diva "Hatsune Miku," Good Smile Company has brought a rich variety of new Nendoroid figures. Meanwhile, its Mecha Smile brand, which focuses on robot-themed works, is showcasing a collection of recently released and upcoming new products from its "MODEROID" plastic model kits and "THE GATTAI" series. The moment you step into the exhibition area, you can feel the excitement building!

Upon entering the venue, you are immediately greeted by a full display of the "MODEROID" plastic model kit series. Even the "MODEROID Baxingar Unite Color Ver." and "MODEROID Dairugger XV," whose product information was only just released before the exhibition, have their samples on display! Aside from the prototypes still in development, many of the exhibits are not just assembled parts; they have been thoroughly polished and painted, showcasing the outstanding design of the products themselves in a state of extremely high completion!

The "THE GATTAI" series, which focuses on transformation and combination mechanisms, also brings its recent headliners from *Super Beast Machine God Dancouga* and the *Brave Series*. It also features new, in-development prototypes from *Brave Police J-Decker*: J-Decker and Duke Fire. Seeing the immense size and intricate combination mechanisms in person is a completely different experience. The display specially showcases both the pre-combination and post-combination forms, demonstrating that the proportions and designs are outstanding in both states.

▼ The "THE GATTAI Guren no Tamashii," which has only been teased with a silhouette, is also highly anticipated.

▼ The "PLAMATEA Gai Shishioh" plastic model kit sneaking into the display.

The "Madō King King's Style" series, a major focus for Mecha Smile in recent years, was also on display, featuring the initial three Madō Kings, the "Granzort Super King Gold Ver." with its luxurious plating and paintwork, and the just-announced die-cast action figure, "HAGANE WORKS King's Style Super Granzort." The hallmark of this series is its reinterpretation of the original anime designs, boasting completely different body proportions and an incredibly high density of detail. The gold plating and metallic red paint on the Super King Gold Ver. at the event were truly beautiful!

Over at the "Nendoroid" section, this year's display featured a huge variety of characters from series like *Hatsune Miku*, *Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony*, *Persona 5*, *Blue Archive*, and the *Final Fantasy* series. Among them were the 2.0 versions of five classic characters that sparked a "renaissance" of discussion, including Haruhi Suzumiya and Konata Izumi, an adorable FF Chocobo, a beautiful long-haired Rei Ayanami, and furthermore, a product announcement for Chimera Falin from *Delicious in Dungeon*. One can't help but wonder how big she will be!

▼ Two small photo booths were also set up this year, so you can bring your own Nendoroid characters for a photoshoot!

As for high-quality PVC scale figures, the more affordable "POP UP PARADE" series, the "figma" action figure series, and the "Reincarnation" series—which recreates classic completed figures as plastic model kits—although fewer in number this time, were mostly unreleased prototypes in their latest stages of development. Visitors could get a sneak peek at the exquisite sculpting and paintwork of each character!

Also on display was Good Smile Company's recently announced new product line, the "BRICKROID" series. It features characters from classic robot anime in a block-figure style, and they look absolutely adorable all lined up together!

The "HELLO! GOOD SMILE" series, which also trades on cuteness, had a smaller display this time. However, a very cute, giant "HELLO! GOOD SMILE Hatsune Miku" statue was set up at the venue, and the stock of various products was quite complete, making it a great opportunity for some shopping.

Partner companies of Good Smile Company, such as Capcom, FREEing, Claynel, and TAITO, also showcased their PVC completed figures at the venue, featuring titles like *Monster Hunter*, *Goddess of Victory: Nikke*, *hololive*, *Frieren: Beyond Journey's End*, and more. Among them, FREEing's new Nikke figure, "Mihara: Chain of Bondage 1/4 Scale," presented in a standing pose, was immensely satisfying in both its size and costume design!

If you see a product you like at the exhibition, you can head over to the adjacent sales area to see if it's in stock! The shelves are packed with a rich variety of series including MODEROID, Nendoroid, POP UP PARADE, and more. There are also many event-exclusive items available only at the venue. Spending a certain amount can also get you limited-edition bonuses like the "HELLO! GOOD SMILE Hatsune Miku Rubber Figure Keychain"!

There are actually many "prototypes under review" at the venue that are prohibited from being photographed, so we can't show them to you. You'll just have to go to the event and discover them for yourself! This year's "Good Smile Model Festival 2026 in Taiwan" is still only a three-day event, so be sure to take advantage of the long weekend and come for a visit! On Saturday, there will also be a fan meet-and-greet with key figures like Good Smile Company's President Aki-san and Mecha Smile's General Producer Hiro Tanaka, where you can hear exciting behind-the-scenes stories about product planning!
