GOOD SMILE COMPANY's plastic model kit series "MODEROID" will release a plastic model kit of the protagonist robot, "Dairugger XV" (ダイラガーXV), from the classic robot anime "Armored Fleet Dairugger XV" (機甲艦隊ダイラガーXV), famous for its "15-machine combination" feature. This highly anticipated item is set to launch in October 2026, with a suggested retail price of 11,000 JPY.
For toy enthusiasts born in the 60s and 70s, the name "Voltron" (聖戰士) is undoubtedly familiar. It actually encompasses two robot anime productions by Toei, Japan: one being "Beast King GoLion" (1981), and the other "Armored Fleet Dairugger XV" (1982). Originally, these two anime were unrelated. However, their rights were later acquired by the American company WEP, which then combined them into a single work, "Voltron: Defender of the Universe." When introduced and broadcast in Taiwan, Voltron was translated as "聖戰士," becoming a shared nostalgic term for many adults from their childhoods.
This "Armored Fleet Dairugger XV" released by MODEROID faithfully recreates the original proportions, standing approximately 20 cm tall. It can perfectly reproduce both the 15-machine combination and separation states. Furthermore, it can form the three distinct modes: Air Rugger (クウラガー), Land Rugger (リックラガー), and Sea Rugger (カイラガー). The model also features articulated joints throughout, allowing for dynamic posing.
Regarding weapon accessories, it naturally includes the signature long sword (ラガー・スウォード), long and short spears (ダイラガーランサー 長・短), an electromagnetic whip, and disc blades for both shoulders (available in both regular and translucent glowing versions).
