TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectors division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product from the movie "Godzilla-1.0" within its "S.H.MonsterArts" series, which combines exquisite monster sculpting with excellent articulation technology. The "Odo Island Monster (2023)" is scheduled for release in September 2026.

The Godzilla that appears in "Godzilla-1.0" was originally an ancient creature inhabiting the deep seas around Odo Island, referred to by local residents as "Odo Island Monster". Its body, resembling a carnivorous dinosaur, stood approximately 15 meters tall, possessing powerful regenerative abilities unlike ordinary creatures. Firearms could not harm it. In late 1945, during the end of WWII, it attacked Japanese troops who invaded its territory, causing significant casualties. However, in 1946, after the war, due to nuclear tests conducted by the US military near Bikini Atoll, the Odo Island Monster mutated and grew into Godzilla, standing 50 meters tall. Its exaggerated regenerative abilities allowed it to recover instantly even after being shelled by warships, and it could emit a nuclear-bomb-level high-power heat ray from its mouth.

The "S.H.MonsterArts Odo Island Monster (2023)" was sculpted, color-specified, and supervised by Japan's leading Godzilla sculptor, Yuji Sakai. Referencing the CG model used in the film, its dinosaur-like forward-leaning posture, larger head, and muscular body lines are faithfully recreated. It also depicts skin scale shapes that differ from its Godzilla form, appearing closer to real reptiles, as well as smaller dorsal fin designs.

The overall color scheme is adjusted to a more biological tone based on the colors presented in the film. The entire skin, dorsal fins, and claws on the hands and feet are treated with matte paint to express a grayish-black hue, with an outer layer dry-brushed with earthy yellow paint to enhance the three-dimensional effect. The articulated parts maintain the integrity of the sculpt through precise articulation division design, while also featuring flexible joints that allow for dynamic and powerful poses, enabling natural poses such as head swaying left and right, and roaring with an uplifted head.
