Japan's renowned toy manufacturer Kaiyodo, under its articulated figure series "Amazing Yamaguchi" (アメイジング・ヤマグチ), is scheduled to release an articulated figure of the popular protagonist "Ryu Hayabusa" (リュウ・ハヤブサ) from Koei Tecmo's game title "NINJA GAIDEN", featuring his "Ninja Ryukenden" design! It is slated for release in December 2026, with a reference price of 8,800 JPY.
Veteran action game players are surely familiar with Tecmo's early game, "Ninja Ryukenden." Indeed, it is the progenitor of the "NINJA GAIDEN" series. The very first title debuted in arcades in 1988, known as "NINJA GAIDEN" in its American version. It was subsequently ported to the Nintendo Famicom (FC) and saw the release of three consecutive titles. Its high difficulty content made it a favorite challenge for many players at the time.
This AMAZING YAMAGUCHI articulated figure of "Ryu Hayabusa" from Kaiyodo is based on his original appearance in "Ninja Ryukenden." Featuring his most classic ninja attire, with his face completely masked, the flowing scarf conveys a sense of dynamism. The surface of the entire costume meticulously recreates the texture of the fabric and its damaged effects.
For articulation, it employs unique movable mechanisms, such as articulated shoulder blades, allowing Ryu Hayabusa's muscular, powerful arms to swing back and forth, enabling a variety of ninja poses that convey both strength and agility. Regarding interchangeable face parts, the eyes visible beneath the mask, which is enveloped by the ninja attire, feature movable eyeballs to make expressions more vivid. For weaponry, it includes his signature weapon, the "Dragon Sword," along with a sheath that can be attached. Additionally, shurikens and kunai are included, as well as 5 sets of interchangeable hand parts, and a display stand.
