BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd.'s collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, has officially announced the latest product from the "METAL ROBOT SPIRITS" series, which combines metallic texture painting and an alloy frame. The "Sazabi", from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack", is scheduled for release in September 2026.
The "MSN-04 Sazabi", piloted by Commander Char Aznable, is a large mobile suit approximately 26 meters in length, incorporating technologies from successive Zeon-type mobile suits. The entire unit is equipped with fuel tanks, numerous thrusters, and attitude control nozzles, allowing it to exhibit excellent maneuverability in space despite its seemingly bulky appearance. In terms of firepower, this unit is armed with a high-output large beam rifle, a large beam tomahawk, a belly-mounted diffuse mega particle cannon, and other armaments. Additionally, parts of its internal structure utilize a psycho-frame, enabling Char to leverage his Newtype abilities and control the 6 funnels mounted on its back for all-range attacks.
The "METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Sazabi" recreates its powerful, heavily armored body at an approximate height of 16 cm. Most of the movable frame and structural parts, including the internal leg thrusters, are made of alloy, providing firm and high-strength joints, flexible articulation, and a substantial feel when handled. Exposed alloy parts are also electroplated to convey a premium texture. The distinctive red exterior armor is rendered with layers of matte bright red and metallic deep red, and over 40 body markings are printed to enhance the richness of detail.
Regarding weapon accessories, the main weapon, the "Beam Shot Rifle," features a sliding foregrip and a detachable energy magazine. The melee weapon, the "Beam Tomahawk," can be equipped with various beam effects and a spinning effect for throwing. The "Beam Sabers," stored in both palms, can be fitted with long and short beam effects. The "Shield," emblazoned with the Neo Zeon emblem, recreates its internal missile launchers and beam tomahawk storage mechanism. The "Long-Range Beam Rifle," which did not appear in the show, comes with a dedicated hand to recreate its classic cool gun-holding pose.
The 6 "Funnels" mounted on the back each come with parts for both stored and deployed states, as well as propulsion effects and clear stands to recreate their firing state, allowing for the depiction of the funnels launching from the back. Furthermore, the METAL ROBOT SPIRITS version includes numerous original mechanisms: the arm frame features a pull-out mechanism to facilitate easier retrieval of the beam sabers, the shoulder armor and shoulder joints are independently movable to expand the range of articulation, and the calf armor can be significantly deployed to reveal internal thrusters and the frame, enhancing the sense of dynamism.
