To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the classic American comic masterpiece "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns" in 2026, the world-renowned Hong Kong toy brand Hot Toys recently announced the follow-up to their "Batman (Battle Damaged Version)" with the "Superman" 1/6th scale collectible figure! Expected to ship in Q1-Q2 2027, with a suggested retail price of HKD 1,690.
Written and drawn by Frank Miller, "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns" is a comic book published by DC Comics in 1986, widely regarded as one of Batman's most classic stories. Following the death of the second Robin, Batman retired from his work and disappeared for over a decade, now a middle-aged man past fifty, his physical condition far from what it once was; however, due to Gotham City's continuously rising crime rate, Batman resolves to return to action, once again stepping forward to confront villains such as the Mutant Gang, Two-Face, and The Joker. At the same time, due to differing stances with Superman, he even has to face off against his nearly invincible old friend... .
This 34 cm tall "Superman" collectible figure features 30 points of articulation throughout its body, fully embodying the mighty and muscular Man of Steel as depicted in the comic. From his thick pectorals, broad shoulders, distinctly sculpted abs, to his clearly defined muscular limbs, every detail conveys his superhuman strength. The head sculpt is also exceptionally impressive, especially that iconic curled forelock! It includes two interchangeable facial expressions: a furrowed brow and a gritted teeth with blood effect, and the eyeballs not only feature an articulated mechanism, but the UV special effect paint application on them can also simulate the "heat vision" about to erupt when illuminated by a UV light. The sense of intimidation is further amplified.
Accessories include a variety of interchangeable hands, Batman's "Kryptonite arrow" used against Superman, a damaged sonic gun, and a specially designed figure base featuring the Superman logo and colors. When posing, the cape, with its bendable wire, can be utilized to enhance dynamic tension, making it incredibly cool!
