Issued by Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS company under its plastic model brand BANDAI HOBBY, the Gunpla 'RG (Real Grade)' series, which incorporates exterior armor, internal frames, interlocking armor, and new technologies into the 1/144 scale, has announced the latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY", the "RG 1/144 Force Impulse Gundam Deactivated Mode", scheduled for release in July 2026. This product will only be sold exclusively on BANDAI's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
In the series, the ZGMF-X56S Impulse Gundam piloted by Shinn Asuka is a cutting-edge "Second Generation Series" mobile suit developed under the leadership of P.L.A.N.T. Chairman Gilbert Durandal. Although restricted from using nuclear engines by the Junius Treaty, its new deuterium beam power supply system still provides stable energy. Furthermore, a new equipment swapping mechanism, the "Silhouette System", was developed based on the Striker Packs of the Strike Gundam. This system allows equipment to be transported to the battlefield by drones, enabling form changes without returning to the mothership. Among these, the most versatile "Force" equipment features a high-mobility thruster pack on its back, demonstrating excellent flight capabilities in both space and within the atmosphere.
The "RG 1/144 Force Impulse Gundam Deactivated Mode" is a modification of the previously released regular version kit. It utilizes various shades of gray molded parts to represent the low-saturation state of the "VPS armor" when deactivated in the series. It also includes "Realistic Decals" printed with original unit markings and other patterns, which can be used to create glowing parts like the twin-eye cameras and sensors, metallic color accents for joints or the frame, and to enhance the detail density of the entire armor with markings.
Aside from the colors, the design is identical to the regular version. Parts of the internal frame are constructed using the integrated Advanced MS Joint frame, which combines flexible movable joints with the ability to recreate the separation and combination mechanism of the four components: Chest Flyer, Leg Flyer, Core Splendor, and Force Silhouette. Each armor part features the series' consistent precise part separation, meticulously sculpted with rich details at 1/144 scale, and utilizes multiple molded colors to express intricate details and layers.
The entire body features impressive articulation mechanisms, ensuring a high-strength, highly movable frame structure while also allowing for separation and combination. The forearms have independent movable axes, and the shoulder armor can rotate independently to reduce articulation interference. The waist part can switch from a locked state to a movable state to ensure a wide range of motion, and the legs are designed with an armor interlocking mechanism. Armaments include a High-Energy Beam Rifle, Mobile Shield, Folding Razor Anti-Armor Knife, and Vajra Beam Sabers, among others, and the shield's expansion/contraction mechanism is reproduced.
