Released by BANDAI HOBBY, the plastic model brand under Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., the Gunpla "RG (Real Grade)" series, which incorporates exterior armor, internal frames, interlocking armor, and new technologies into the 1/144 scale, has announced the rerelease of its latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED," the "RG 1/144 Strike Gundam Deactive Mode," scheduled for May 2026. This product will only be available for purchase exclusively on BANDAI's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The protagonist mobile suit from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED," the GAT-X105 Strike Gundam, is the last of the five "G Weapons" developed by the Earth Alliance to be completed. Its armor material has been lightened for increased flexibility, granting it extremely high mobility akin to a human body, but also making it more reliant on the protection of its "Phase Shift Armor." Through the "Striker Pack System" equipment change mechanism, it can transform into "Aile Striker," "Sword Striker," "Launcher Striker," and other forms, adapting to various missions and battlefield uses, achieving the goal of multi-purpose functionality from a single unit.
The "RG 1/144 Strike Gundam Deactive Mode" is based on a modified version of the previously released regular kit. It utilizes various shades of gray molded parts to represent the low-saturation state of the "PS Armor" when deactivated in the series. It also includes "Realistic Decals" printed with original unit markings and other designs, allowing for the creation of glowing parts like the twin-eye cameras and sensors, metallic color accents for joints or the internal frame, and the use of markings to enhance the detail density of the entire armor.
Each armor part features the series' characteristic precise part separation, meticulously detailing rich designs at the 1/144 scale. The entire internal frame is constructed using integrated "Advanced MS Joint" frame parts, which, combined with multiple interlocking armor mechanisms, allows for dynamic combat poses. However, older RG products released before 2016 that utilized a full "Advanced MS Joint" frame often had issues with low joint durability and parts easily detaching.
This version only includes the Strike Gundam main unit, with weapons limited to the beam rifle, shield, and two Armor Schneiders. To recreate forms such as "Aile Striker," "Sword Striker," or "Launcher Striker," it is necessary to combine it with backpack and weapon parts included in separately sold products like "RG 1/144 Aile Strike Gundam" or "RG 1/144 Skygrasper."
