BANDAI HOBBY, the plastic model brand under Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, which integrates exterior armor, internal frames, interlocking armor, and new technologies into its 1/144 scale Gunpla 'RG (Real Grade)' series, has announced the latest product from the 'Gundam' x 'Apex Legends' collaboration event: 'RG 1/144 Gundam Epyon -APEX LEGENDS(TM) Alter Ver.-', slated for release in July 2026.
The OZ-13MS Gundam Epyon originates from 'Mobile Suit Gundam Wing,' primarily piloted by the popular character Zechs Merquise. In contrast to other weapons designed for slaughter and victory, this mobile suit reflects the chivalrous spirit and beliefs of its designer, Treize Khushrenada. Its armaments consist solely of close-combat weapons suitable for duels, such as a beam saber, a shield equipped with a Heat Rod, and twin arm claws, boasting exceptional mobility. Given that Alter's 'Void Tail' perfectly complements Gundam Epyon's signature 'Heat Rod,' this mobile suit was chosen for the collaborative design in the 'Gundam' x 'Apex Legends' event.
The 'RG 1/144 Gundam Epyon -APEX LEGENDS(TM) Alter Ver.-' is a modified version based on previously released standard kits. Its light blue, purple, and black molded parts recreate the color scheme of Alter's original in-game appearance, and it includes APEX original design marking stickers. The product's outer box art will also feature a full-color original design from the 'Apex Legends' collaboration.
The kit continues the RG series' hallmark features, condensing excellent color separation, part division technology, and high-density modeling details into the 1/144 scale, faithfully reproducing Gundam Epyon's spiky, sharp-edged armor design. The entire mobile frame has been optimally adjusted for its articulation mechanisms to achieve dynamic beam saber-wielding poses, including horizontal and two-stage movable axes in the forearms, movable shoulder armor to expand arm lifting range, three-axis multi-directional articulation in the torso, and interlocking armor mechanisms for the knee spikes, all allowing for easily posed, more natural beam saber-swinging stances during play.
The twin wings feature an original mechanism inspired by pterosaurs, allowing for pterosaur-like movements through multiple articulation points when transformed into MA mode. Furthermore, the hip joints are equipped with a locking mechanism to enhance joint strength. The signature 'Heat Rod' weapon is produced using the 'Advanced MS Joint' integrated frame, requiring no additional assembly or painting after being cut from the runner, directly reproducing its flexibly bending multi-segment movable structure.
