BANDAI HOBBY, the plastic model brand under Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, has announced the latest product from the Gundam x Apex Legends collaboration event: the "RG 1/144 Wing Gundam Zero EW -APEX LEGENDS(TM) Valkyrie Ver.-", set to release in July 2026. This addition to the 'RG (Real Grade)' Gunpla series incorporates exterior armor, internal frames, interlocking armor, and new technologies into the 1/144 scale.
The XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero EW is the mobile suit piloted by protagonist Heero Yuy from 'Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz'. It features the "ZERO System," capable of tactical prediction and optimal path analysis, and its primary weapon, the "Twin Buster Rifle," can destroy space colonies with a single shot. The white wings on its back not only significantly enhance mobility but can also envelop the suit to form an "Atmospheric Re-entry Mode." Given that Valkyrie is a character with flight capabilities who dominates the skies, the Wing Gundam Zero EW, with its complementary wing design, was chosen for this collaborative crossover in the Gundam x Apex Legends event.
The "RG 1/144 Wing Gundam Zero EW -APEX LEGENDS(TM) Valkyrie Ver.-" is a modified version based on previously released standard kits. It utilizes black, orange, and silver molded parts to recreate the original color scheme of Valkyrie's in-game appearance and includes APEX original design decal stickers for the mobile suit. The product's outer box art will also feature a full-color original design from the Apex Legends collaboration.
Each armor part features the series' characteristic precise separation, meticulously detailing the rich design at 1/144 scale. The entire internal frame is constructed using integrated "Advanced MS Joint" frame parts, combined with multiple interlocking armor mechanisms and multi-axis movable mechanisms for the back wings, allowing for dynamic combat poses. However, older RG products released before 2016 that utilized full "Advanced MS Joint" frames often had issues with low joint durability and parts easily detaching.
Weapon accessories include the "Twin Buster Rifle" with its linking mechanism, "Beam Sabers" stored in the main wing bases, and "Machine Cannons" concealed within the upper chest armor. The angelic wings, which are the soul of the entire mobile suit, feature multi-axis movable supports that can rotate in various directions, armor deployment mechanisms, and movable small feathers, allowing for the recreation of magnificent silhouettes with expanded wings.
