BANDAI SPIRITS' Collectors Division, TAMASHII NATIONS, which produces the transforming die-cast toy 'DX Chogokin' series, has announced the release of a dream collaboration product between the anime 'Macross' and the movie 'Top Gun: Maverick': the 'VF-25 Messiah Valkyrie TOPGUN: Maverick Ver.', slated for release in September 2026.
In the movie 'Top Gun' sequel, 'Maverick', Colonel Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell, portrayed by Tom Cruise, is a top naval aviator with over 30 years of service. He and the elite 'Top Gun' pilots he trained utilize the U.S. Boeing-produced carrier-based multirole fighter, the 'F/A-18E/F Super Hornet', for their missions. This product combines the color scheme of this aircraft from the film with the 'VF-25 Messiah Valkyrie', the main variable fighter featured in 'Macross Frontier'.
The 'DX Chogokin VF-25 Messiah Valkyrie TOPGUN: Maverick Ver.' is based on the previously released Alto Saotome machine, modified with new color applications and decal printing across the entire aircraft. It faithfully reproduces the distinctive cockpit area and blue-black vertical stabilizer paint scheme of the 'Super Hornet' from 'Top Gun: Maverick', along with various markings on the fuselage. The cockpit canopy uses clear blue parts to showcase the intricate internal structure, and in BATTROID mode, the head features red and white lines to replicate Maverick's helmet colors.
Thanks to its precise complete transformation mechanism, the VF-25 can replicate its three forms: FIGHTER, GERWALK, and BATTROID. It comes with a special display stand featuring the titles of both collaborating IPs. Most of the aircraft's frame parts are made of die-cast metal, providing both firm and secure movable joints and a satisfyingly weighty feel during play. It can also be equipped with various interchangeable hand parts, a GUN POD, an assault knife, and other weapon accessories.
