As many fans know, the 2005 "Fantastic Four" film series was originally intended as a trilogy. However, the sequel, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," saw increased production costs but diminishing box office returns, ultimately preventing the original cast, who had signed on for three films, from returning to complete the planned third installment. Beyond the canceled third film, Michael Chiklis, who played The Thing, recently revealed that a spin-off movie was also in the works.

During a recent appearance at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) to reflect on the original "Fantastic Four" films, Chiklis shared in an interview: "There was one idea I always wanted to do, and we talked about it at the time, but it just never came to fruition. It was one of my favorite comic books growing up: 'Hulk vs. The Thing.' They just never made it, never pushed through with it, and I was so disappointed because I thought, 'Damn, that would have been so much fun.' This was an idea for a spin-off. We discussed many story ideas for the period between the first and second films. But honestly, I don't know what happened after the second movie. For a long time, I never heard anything again."
