Following the first drop—the Taiwan-exclusive RX-78-2 Gundam figure—the second wave of collaboration merch has arrived today: the "Gundam Dual Mecha Mug Set"! Our team deployed to SIDE M to get a first-hand look at the new Gundam mugs, and we're here to report back. Let's dive in!
Here they are! The set features two mugs themed after the iconic rival mobile suits: a white mug for Amuro Ray's RX-78-2 Gundam and a black one for Char Aznable's Zaku II. The bodies of the mugs feature an embossed, three-dimensional design that feels incredibly premium to the touch. The slick design, which pairs the mobile suit art with its model number, is a direct hit for Gundam fans. Absolutely awesome.
The SIDE M flagship restaurant has been completely transformed with incredible Gundam wall graphics! The classic "Mobile Suit Gundam" logo alone is enough to draw you in.
A 1:10 scale statue of the RX-78-2 Gundam stands at an impressive 1.8 meters tall. It's... it's beautiful.
Since we were on-site at SIDE M, we had to get some shots of the mugs against the themed backdrops. First up is the RX-78-2 Gundam mug paired with the legendary "Last Shooting" scene.
The second floor has been completely occupied by the Principality of Zeon! Not only does the wall feature the Zeon emblem, but the art depicts Amuro's RX-78-2 getting kicked by Char. We can't help but shout the words welling up inside... Sieg Zeon! This is the perfect spot to photograph the Char's Zaku II mug.
A massive surprise awaits on the third floor! A wall installation themed after the Zeong is not only imposing but also features a cool 3D element where its right index and middle fingers jut out from the wall. A floor marker shows the best spot for fans to pose for an amazing photo. Now, the big shots on the third floor will finally understand the power of the Zeong!
Starting May 6th at 10:30 AM, customers can purchase the Gundam Dual Mecha Mug Set for a special price of NT$499 with the purchase of any Extra Value Meal or Share Box (excluding the Gundam collaboration meal) at participating counters, self-ordering kiosks, or Drive-Thrus. Each set includes one black and one white mug. The offer is limited to one set per meal. The standalone price is NT$550, with a limit of four sets per transaction.
Note: The Gundam Dual Mecha Mug Set cannot be purchased as an add-on to the Gundam collaboration meal.
After running up and down SIDE M for that photoshoot, it's time to refuel with a burger that's sure to taste even better now. The fan-favorite "Spicy Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese / Spicy Quarter Pounder with Cheese" is making a triumphant return! Made with 100% premium Angus beef patties seared to lock in the juices, it's topped with a multi-layered, New Orleans-inspired Cajun-style sauce, cheddar cheese, onions, and pickles for a rich flavor profile bursting with notes of paprika, onion, and bell pepper. For those who can't handle the heat, the "Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese / Quarter Pounder with Cheese" offers the same thick, meaty satisfaction and classic taste.

During the event period, McDonald's has rolled out limited-edition "Mobile Suit Gundam" packaging and launched a campaign that lets fans choose a side. The original flavor represents Team Amuro, while the spicy flavor represents Team Char. The campaign will track and display the support ratio for each faction. The "Original vs. Spicy" battle is in its final stages, so grab a Quarter Pounder and fight for your chosen side!

Not only is the "SIDE M" logo on the floor of the first level, but even the self-ordering kiosks are decked out with 3D models of the RX-78-2 Gundam, a Zaku II, and Char's Zaku II. This is the... the first time we've never wanted to leave an ordering kiosk... (gets dragged away).
