All the principal cast members from the first "The Devil Wears Prada" film are making their comeback for the sequel. The core quartet of Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, Emily Blunt, and Meryl Streep are all confirmed, and even Tracie Thoms, who played one of Anne's friends in the movie, isn't missing. However, Anne's chef boyfriend, Nate, played by Adrian Grenier, was notably absent from the initial cast list.
Many fans expressed disappointment over Nate's omission, feeling the ensemble wouldn't be complete without him. Apparently, 20th Century Studios heard the widespread calls, as they urgently brought back Adrian Grenier to reprise his role as Nate. However, Grenier's appearance isn't in the main feature film itself, but rather in a Starbucks commercial promoting the sequel.

From the outset of the commercial, Grenier acknowledges that news of his absence from the sequel has been widely reported. He then urges viewers to let go of any disappointment over Nate's non-return and move forward with "good energy" (good vibes). Grenier's emphasis on "good energy" is a direct tie-in to Starbucks' newly launched energy-boosting beverages, which the ad promotes. Grenier also states in the ad that he was not unwilling to return for the sequel, noting that he would have been available if they had called him.
