GUNDAM BASE, the official Gunpla flagship store for "Mobile Suit Gundam" in Japan, has announced that the latest limited edition item from the animated film Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash, the "HG 1/144 Funnel Missile Effect Set for Xi Gundam / Penelope," is scheduled to go on sale at various store locations starting April 25, 2026.
Funnel Missiles are psycommu-guided armaments mounted inside various armor sections of units such as the "RX-105 Xi Gundam" and "RX-104FF Penelope." In environments with Minovsky particle interference where radar-guided missiles are virtually useless, and given that standard "Funnels" cannot be used within Earth's gravity, Funnel Missiles were developed to overcome these challenges. By utilizing the psycommu control capabilities of Newtype pilots, these missiles can lock onto, track, and bombard their targets with lethal precision.
This product is a standalone version of the Funnel Missile effect parts originally included in the 2021 release "HGUC 1/144 Xi Gundam VS Penelope Funnel Missile Effect Set." The set includes a dedicated display stand for one mobile suit, 12 Funnel Missile parts, and a collection of effect parts. These can be used with the separately sold Xi Gundam, Penelope, or the Odysseus Gundam main units.
Each effect part can be connected to the dedicated stand to adjust the display angle. By attaching the Funnel Missile body parts, you can replicate the brilliant flashes and ballistic trajectories of a launch, allowing for the recreation of incredibly dynamic and powerful battle scenes when paired with the Mobile Suit models.
