The prequel film "Wonka," which spun off from the 1971 classic "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," premiered three years ago to widespread critical acclaim and grossed over $600 million worldwide. This commercial success quickly made a sequel an inevitable prospect, with writer-director Paul King having long confirmed that a script was already in development.

Now, according to the latest scoop from renowned entertainment journalist Daniel Richtman, "Wonka 2" appears to be nearing readiness, with principal photography reportedly slated to commence in late August of this year.

Beyond "Wonka 2," Richtman recently disclosed that the next "Jurassic World" installment, rumored to be titled "Jurassic World: Rebirth" and long in development, is also gearing up to commence principal photography this fall. If all goes as planned, Gareth Edwards, who is helming the "Rebirth" project, is expected to return to direct. The three lead actors attached to "Rebirth" — Mahershala Ali, Scarlett Johansson, and Jonathan Bailey — are also set to return in starring roles. Current widespread rumors suggest a June 2028 theatrical release.
