RX-93 Nu Gundam

After several engagements with Neo Zeon's advanced mobile suits, Amuro keenly felt that the Re-GZ was already far behind the times. When the Federation refused to unseal the various advanced Gundam-type MS that were mothballed after previous wars, Amuro had no choice but to commission the lunar enterprise Anaheim Electronics to develop a custom unit for him—the RX-93 ν Gundam.
The new machine's design referenced past Gundam series and incorporated Amuro's own extensive experience as an MS pilot. The unit was designated as Anaheim Electronics' 11th Gundam, with the development codename "Nu."
Considering the practical needs of combat, the ν Gundam's development emphasized both versatility and performance. The design philosophy abandoned the transformable and modular structures popular during the Gryps War and the First Neo Zeon War, instead returning to the fundamental principles of MS design. On the other hand, anticipating the possibility of a prolonged war, the machine's development also stressed reliability and durability. Apart from a few components (like the Psycommu system), many parts were standard Federation military-spec, allowing for direct procurement from mass-produced MS, which greatly mitigated the maintenance difficulties typical of custom units.
This mobile suit is not equipped with large-scale boosters, but its output has been enhanced and it is fitted with special thrusters, giving the ν Gundam extremely high mobility. To detect enemy Psycommu use earlier, Amuro requested the installation of a Psyco-Sensor behind the pilot's seat. This, combined with a miniaturized Psycommu system integrated into the Psyco-Frame, not only improved the unit's sensory perception but also made significant contributions to its tracking and maneuvering capabilities.
In terms of armament, besides the head-mounted Vulcan guns for close-in defense, the ν Gundam is equipped with an Anaheim-developed beam rifle with adjustable output. (This can be seen in the ν Gundam's first appearance in the film, where Amuro snipes a Neo Zeon pilot pursuing Kayra. The enemy pilot mistakes the powerful beam for a blast from a battleship, thinking reinforcements have arrived. Later, as Amuro breaks through the Neo Zeon defense line at Axis for the second time, he senses Quess's approach and is seen holding the rifle in a non-firing pose, presumably adjusting its output to deal with an enemy using funnels.) The backpack can also be equipped with a New Hyper Bazooka. Additionally, the shield houses a small beam cannon and missiles. Furthermore, the ν Gundam is the first RX-series Gundam-type MS to be equipped with Fin Funnels (a Psycommu system weapon).
The Fin Funnels were added at Amuro's consideration to counter the various funnels used by Neo Zeon's Newtype/Cyber-Newtype mobile suits. After further modifications, the ν Gundam's funnels were designed as foldable, plank-like Fin Funnels. Because the Fin Funnels are stored on its back, one of the beam saber mounts was relocated to the left arm. However, Anaheim had previously claimed not to possess Psycommu technology, which raises questions about how they obtained the Psyco-Frame. It turns out that Neo Zeon's mobile suits were also commissioned from Anaheim. Char thus obtained the ν Gundam's design data and, out of a sense of mutual respect and a desire for a fair duel with Amuro, he deliberately provided the Psyco-Frame technology to Anaheim.
Due to the urgent needs of the frontline, the ν Gundam was deployed into combat without sufficient testing after the Psyco-Frame was installed on top of its existing Bio-Sensor computer. During battle, Amuro unexpectedly discovered that the Psyco-Frame reacted to the pilot's brainwaves in a special way, allowing the Fin Funnels to generate a particle disruption membrane that could nullify enemy beam and physical projectile attacks (this defensive measure is not a type of I-Field, but can be considered an early form of the beam shields seen later in the UC era). Later, during the battle to stop the Axis drop and the duel with Char's Sazabi, the ν Gundam demonstrated its high mobility. After a battle between two evenly matched pilots, Amuro successfully defeated Char's Sazabi. He then piloted the damaged unit in an attempt to push Axis away. The ν Gundam's Psyco-Frame resonated with the thoughts of the numerous pilots trying to stop Axis (their collective will to prevent the catastrophe), but the sheer volume of thoughts overloaded the Psyco-Frame, causing the ν Gundam to be destroyed. Amidst the light that pushed Axis away, the ν Gundam, along with the Sazabi's escape pod, ultimately vanished...

One of D.M.S.'s top three favorite Gundams in the entire Gundam universe!
The biggest selling point of this Metal Robot Spirits Nu Gundam is undoubtedly its meticulous paint job and that substantial, weighty feel!
The main body stands at approximately 15 cm tall. Accessories include interchangeable hand parts, a beam rifle, two types of beam sabers, dedicated beam saber effect parts, a New Hyper Bazooka, 6 Fin Funnels, a shield, dedicated display parts for the Fin Funnels, 6 dedicated effect parts for the Fin Funnels, a display base, a support arm, and connection joints.
The QC on my particular unit is quite good, so I consider myself lucky in the "QC lottery." However, many other collectors have run into issues, such as paint touch-up marks, misaligned decals, and prominent nub marks... and so on. For this reason, I can't give the QC score too high a rating...
The full paint application, panel lining, and water slide decals give it a high-class, premium feel. That pure white finish is truly visually stunning! The articulation is impressive in all areas, and with many parts of the inner frame made of die-cast metal, the joints are exceptionally sturdy. The accessories are abundant—the rifle, bazooka, shield, and beam sabers are all included, making this figure highly playable.
The proportions are indeed a significant improvement over the MG version. I've always been partial to Yutaka Izubuchi's designs, so I have nothing more to add on that front! The downside is that many of the articulated joints are very close to the outer armor, so you risk scratching the paint if you're not careful while posing. Additionally, it's ultimately old wine in a new bottle, so it's lacking in novelty. Overall, this is an outstanding product! If you see it on the market and it's not at a scalper's price, don't hesitate to pick it up!
Yes! This is definitely one of D.M.S.'s Top Ten Best Buys of 2026...
