Roughly two months after an initial announcement in Variety, new details have emerged about "Edge of Tomorrow" director Doug Liman's latest film, "Bitcoin: Killing Satoshi." The project is set to utilize AI technology to generate all of its sets and may also leverage AI in post-production to adjust actor performances, including lip, facial, and body movements. The production recently granted a set visit to The Wrap, offering a closer look at its groundbreaking methods.

Principal photography has already quietly wrapped in London, but not before The Wrap was able to tour the set. Producers revealed to the outlet that the entire film was shot on a single, custom-built soundstage over a remarkably short 20-day period. They also claimed that thanks to the efficiencies of AI, the production cost only $70 million, saving a staggering $230 million from its estimated $300 million budget had it been filmed with traditional practical sets. In addition to the AI-generated sets and scenery, most of the lighting effects were also handled directly by AI.

Lawrence Grey, one of the producers on "Bitcoin: Killing Satoshi," emphasized that AI is not intended to completely replace human involvement. He stated that regardless of the fear some in the industry may have, AI is an inevitable trend, but if used correctly, it can be a helpful tool. Grey pointed out that AI significantly reduces the time needed for on-set technical adjustments, set construction, and teardowns, thereby lowering production costs and allowing creators to focus more efficiently on the elements that matter most.
