While script development for Anne Hathaway's "The Princess Diaries" series' third installment was announced back in 2022, four years have passed with no production start or significant updates. However, Meg Cabot, author of "The Princess Diaries" novel series, recently attended a New York book fair and unexpectedly let slip details about more original cast members set to return.

Previously, Hathaway was the only confirmed returning cast member for "The Princess Diaries 3." But Cabot revealed at the book fair that "everyone will have their part, because there's a storyline that requires everyone to be there. Robert Schwartzman is back, and Chris Pine is too, even though he said he wasn't, he is." Robert Schwartzman played Hathaway's classmate and love interest in the first film, while Chris Pine was the male lead in the second installment.
"The Princess Diaries 3" is set to be directed by Adele Lim, known for "Joy Ride." A release date has not yet been announced.
