Japan's "Mobile Suit Gundam" official Gunpla flagship store GUNDAM BASE has announced detailed information for its latest limited edition product, "RG 1/144 MSN-04FF Sazabi [Clear Color]", which is scheduled to be pre-sold at GUNDAM SIDE-F in Fukuoka starting May 2, 2026.
The MSN-04FF Sazabi is a mobile suit that appeared in a special video played at the site during the completion of the life-sized "RX-93ff ν Gundam" statue in Fukuoka. Similar to the RX-93ff ν Gundam, it is based on the design from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack", with the addition of a new original armament not seen in the anime, the "Double Fin Funnel". These large funnels, resembling lobster claws, are usually mounted on the backpack. They can be remotely controlled to fire beam cannons individually, or combined to fire a large beam cannon. They can also be held in both hands and used as large beam sabers.
The "RG 1/144 MSN-04FF Sazabi [Clear Color]" is a modification of the previously released regular version. All red armor parts have been replaced with clear red molded colors, while the dark gray used for the frame and weapons, and the yellow for the thrusters and power pipes, have also been changed to metallic gunmetal and gold molding, making the overall luster of the model more harmonious. The clear parts not only showcase the intricate details of the internal frame, but also make it more convenient for special customization techniques such as lighting or glow-in-the-dark paints, presenting a different style from regular Gunpla.
The main body also features a cool body proportion, high-density detail sculpting, as well as highly praised movable joints, hydraulic cylinders, thrusters, and other intricate internal frame designs, and external armor deployment mechanisms. The original armament "Double Fin Funnel" can be mounted on both sides of the backpack, just like in the video. It features an expansion mechanism to recreate the firing state of the cannons, and a combined flight form where the two cannons are linked. It also includes beam effects to recreate the large beam saber form, and can be displayed with the included "ACTION BASE 5" stand.
