Anne Hathaway, who has five new films slated for release this year, recently saw A24's "Mother Mary" hit screens just two weeks ago. Now, Amazon MGM Studios has quickly followed up with the debut trailer for her next project, "Verity."

The film is an adaptation of the eponymous thriller novel by Colleen Hoover, author of "It Ends with Us." Michael Showalter, who previously directed Hathaway in "The Idea of You," helms the project from a screenplay penned by Nick Antosca, co-writer of "Antlers." The ensemble cast also features Josh Hartnett, Dakota Johnson, and Michael Abbott Jr. "Verity" is slated for an October 2nd release in North America.

The official synopsis reveals that Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson), a struggling writer grappling with financial woes, accepts a rare opportunity: to complete the unfinished works of bestselling thriller novelist Verity Crawford (Hathaway), who tragically died in a mysterious accident, leaving her popular series incomplete. The offer comes from Verity's husband, Jeremy Crawford (Hartnett).

Upon arriving at the Crawfords' luxurious estate, Lowen uncovers a secret, unfinished manuscript that threatens to expose the family's chilling past. As she attempts to navigate her new role and connect with Jeremy and his young son, Crew, Lowen begins to notice unsettling abnormalities beneath the surface. She must ultimately determine if Verity's writings are merely disturbing fiction or a sinister warning from a deranged mind.
