Bandai has officially announced the latest release in its popular tokusatsu and kaiju-themed vinyl figure line, the "Movie Monster" series. Straight from the 1994 film "Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla" comes the formidable "SpaceGodzilla ver 2.0," scheduled to hit shelves on May 30, 2026.
Known as the "Cosmic Monster," SpaceGodzilla is believed to be an abnormally evolved creature born after G-Cells—carried into space by either Biollante or Mothra—were absorbed by a black hole and fused with crystalline organisms and the energy of a stellar explosion. Viciously cruel and highly intelligent, its combat abilities surpass even Godzilla's. Armed with a controllable Corona Beam, gravity manipulation, and a shield that can completely deflect Godzilla's atomic breath, it can also generate crystals to absorb limitless energy, making it one of the most challenging adversaries in the franchise's history.
Compared to the original release, the "Movie Monster SpaceGodzilla ver 2.0" features a completely new sculpt, thoroughly supervised by Shinichi Wakasa, who was responsible for the suit modeling during the film's production. The figure's dark hide now boasts more realistic, irregular, and uneven textures. The head has been resculpted for a sharper look with more refined paint application on the pupils. The abdominal area, with its exposed muscle and cavity-like appearance, has been significantly upgraded, featuring intricate sculpting of the sternum, muscle fibers, and organ-like shapes. A detailed paint job brings out the visceral, reddish color of the abdomen, contrasting with the milky-white hue of the crystals on its shoulders and dorsal fins.
