The highly anticipated sequel to "The Devil Wears Prada" launched in theaters worldwide last Wednesday, predictably opening to a massive box office. In North America, the film raked in an impressive $77 million in its opening week, nearly tripling the original film's $27.5 million domestic debut.

This marks the fourth-best North American opening of the year so far, trailing behind "Michael" with $97.5 million, "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" with $131 million, and "Project Hail Mary" with $80 million.

However, when factoring in international box office, "The Devil Wears Prada 2" surpassed both "Michael" and "Project Hail Mary." With a robust $156 million from overseas markets, "The Devil Wears Prada 2" achieved a global opening weekend total of $233 million, outperforming "Michael"'s $217 million and "Project Hail Mary"'s $140 million.

Reportedly, "The Devil Wears Prada 2" carried a production budget of approximately $100 million (with a significant portion allocated to actor salaries), a substantial increase from the original's $41 million. Despite the higher cost, the film has garnered generally positive reviews from both critics and audiences. If its box office decline remains modest in the coming weeks, "The Devil Wears Prada 2" is poised for substantial profitability.
