Japanese toy company Qualia, known for its quirky and playful creations, is once again featuring grumpy cats as its protagonists with the highly popular "Unfriendly Cat Plushie 2" capsule toy series. This collection includes five different designs, with each capsule priced at 500 JPY. The series is expected to launch in May 2026.
The "MOKEMONO (モケモノ)" plushie series is a brand founded by Japanese plush toy designer and pattern maker Sekonao (せこなお). Sekonao creates beloved mysterious creatures using plush materials, with popular characters including the CHIRARIS family, who enjoy peeking at the human world with tilted heads; HUGma, the teddy bear who loves hugs; and BABY NESSIE, the baby Loch Ness Monster, among others.
This latest Qualia "Unfriendly Cat Plushie 2" charm capsule toy release brings MOKEMONO's popular "UNFRIENDLY CAT" series to life in a palm-sized gashapon format. These are the untamable cats, perpetually hissing with unfriendly intent, characterized by their highly bristled fur and arched backs! The second wave features: "Grandma's Cat" (Calico), "Police Station Cat" (Black and White), "Bookstore Cat" (Gray), "Greengrocer's Cat" (Orange), and "That Kid's Cat" (Gray and White). With even more color variations joining the bristling ranks, these figures are both hilariously terrifying!
