Chinese toy manufacturer CangDao Model is once again teaming up with Dark Horse Comics to release a new product based on the classic comic "Hellboy"—the "Hellboy (Lord Purgatory Ver.)" action figure. The figure is set for a January 2027 release with a suggested retail price of $274.99 USD.
"Hellboy" is the classic comic series created by American artist Mike Mignola in 1993. The story follows a young demon summoned to Earth by Nazis during a black magic experiment at the end of World War II. He is rescued by Allied forces and adopted by Professor Trevor Bruttenholm, who names him "Hellboy." As an adult, he joins the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.), becoming humanity's greatest weapon against the forces of darkness and Nazi remnants.
This "Hellboy (Lord Purgatory Ver.)" stands approximately 30cm tall and appears to be based on the same mold as the previous 2023 release. Constructed with die-cast alloy parts, the figure reimagines Hellboy's iconic look with an intricate, heavily armored mecha design. Large, segmented plates create an exaggerated musculature with a metallic finish, while the mechanical details in the joints are exquisitely rendered. Accessories once again include an interchangeable head sculpt featuring his fully-grown horns, alternate clawed hands, a holster, a small revolver, and a massive revolver-style grenade launcher with five grenade rounds. As the definitive "Lord Purgatory" version, this release now includes a brand-new, equally mech-stylized Golden Holy Sword, offering an even more powerful and diverse weapon choice!
