Japanese toy manufacturer PLEX, under its GODZILLA VINYL ART (GVA) project, has teamed up with renowned monster sculptor Tentsuku Kogei to release the "Godzilla (2001) Pink Glow" art sofubi. This stunning vinyl figure is themed after the 2001 film "Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack" and is priced at 38,500 JPY, with an estimated release in August 2026.
Released in 2001, Toho's film "Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack" (ゴジラ・モスラ・キングギドラ 大怪獣総攻撃, GMK) is widely regarded as the most acclaimed entry in the Millennium Godzilla series. The plot continues from the original 1954 "Godzilla," depicting Godzilla's return years after his initial destruction of Japan. Now, wielding the power of the "ghosts of Pacific War casualties," he unleashes vengeance upon Japan as a god of destruction! Humanity must unite with the "Three Guardian Monsters"—Baragon, Mothra, and King Ghidorah—to fight back against this formidable threat.
The "Godzilla (2001) Pink Glow" art sofubi is masterfully sculpted by Tentsuku Kogei, an artist celebrated in the modern sofubi scene for their exquisite sculpting and thematic color schemes. This figure not only faithfully recreates the bulky physique and distinctive fierce countenance of the 2001 Godzilla but also features a deep gradient paint application for its coloration. With an imposing size of over 27 cm tall and 50 cm long, it exudes an overwhelming presence, truly embodying the King of Destruction! Most strikingly, its dorsal fins are crafted from glow-in-the-dark material, allowing them to emit a vibrant pink glow in the dark, showcasing the King of Destruction in a mysterious yet menacing form!
