Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon's breakout hit, the "Legally Blonde" franchise, is expanding with a prequel series titled "Elle," set to debut this summer. The first trailer has just been unveiled for the series, which will premiere its first season on Amazon Prime Video on July 1. A second season has already received an early renewal.
Witherspoon, who starred as the original Elle Woods, is not only executive producing the new series but also played a key role in casting its new lead. Separately, the long-gestating "Legally Blonde 3" film, which will see Witherspoon reprise her iconic role, remains in active development.
