Japanese model maker MegaHouse has announced the latest addition to its "Realistic Model Series G Structure" line of Gundam dioramas: the "Last Shooting (Material Color Edition)" from "Mobile Suit Gundam," slated for release in September 2026.
This iconic diorama recreates the climactic scene from the original "Mobile Suit Gundam" finale. It depicts protagonist Amuro Ray in his "RX-78-2 Gundam" locked in a fierce battle with Char Aznable, piloting the Newtype-use prototype "Zeong," within the space fortress "A Baoa Qu." Despite both pilots crippling parts of their opponent's mobile suits, their powerful Newtype abilities allowed them to continue the fight. The scene culminates with the Gundam, having lost its head and left arm, and the Zeong, reduced to just its head, simultaneously firing upon each other before losing power – creating the legendary "Last Shooting" moment.
The "G Structure Last Shooting (Material Color Edition)" is a revised version of the previously released standard edition. It maintains the 1/144 scale and semi-completed kit specifications, meticulously recreating the interior of the fortress where the Gundam performs its "Last Shooting." However, all parts in this edition are presented in their original plastic molded colors, without additional paintwork. This allows even beginner modelers to easily assemble the kit and freely paint its highly detailed components. The set also includes stickers featuring various warning and instructional markings, enhancing the diorama's realism.
Measuring approximately 23.5 cm high and 16.5 cm wide, the diorama is scaled to match Bandai's 1/144 Gunpla products. It also comes with dedicated transparent support stand parts, allowing collectors to pair it with various 1/144 scale "RX-78-2 Gundam" and "Zeong" models to recreate the classic "Last Shooting" scene.
