Bandai is dropping a new addition to its popular Movie Monster Series of tokusatsu and kaiju vinyl figures! Get ready for the Megalon (2023) Flight ver., based on the monster's appearance in the "Godzilla vs. Megalon" short film from Godzilla Fes 2023. This figure is slated for a May 13, 2026 release and will be available exclusively through the official Godzilla Store.
During the Godzilla Fes 2023 event, Toho officially released the new short tokusatsu film "Godzilla vs. Megalon" to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the titular kaiju. The short's world-building continues from the previous year's production, "Godzilla vs. Gigan Rex," while its plot pays homage to the original 1973 classic, "Godzilla vs. Megalon." The story follows a mysterious girl from an undersea kingdom who uses the residual energy from the remains of Gigan Rex to awaken her kingdom's guardian deity, Megalon, unleashing it upon Japan. Sensing Megalon's revival, Godzilla also makes landfall, setting the stage for an epic monster showdown.
The Movie Monster Series Megalon (2023) Flight ver. is based on the standard version released in 2024 but features an all-new sculpt. This release captures Megalon in its dynamic flight pose with wings spread and arms raised. The figure boasts an impressive size, standing approximately 17.5cm tall with a total length of about 29cm. The detailed paintwork brings the kaiju to life, highlighting the dark red on its joints and wings, its glowing yellow eyes, the distinct yellow patterns on its carapace, and the metallic silver finish on its drill arms.
