To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 1996 film "Mothra," PLEX and X-PLUS are rereleasing the "Toho Large Monster Series" vinyl figure of the cosmic super demon beast, Desghidorah, in August 2026. This popular line features monsters from Toho films and is produced by Japan's PLEX and distributed by X-PLUS.
Desghidorah, as seen in the film, is a cosmic monster that invaded Earth 65 million years ago, leading to the extinction of the dinosaurs. This malevolent and belligerent creature thrives by draining the life energy from plants, causing them to wither and die. It also possesses the ability to manipulate magma, unleashing a variety of terrifying fire attacks. Originally a shapeless magma lifeform, it adopted the form of King Ghidorah after previous encounters. An immortal and indestructible entity, Desghidorah can only be contained through sealing.
The "Toho Large Monster Series FAVORITE SCULPTORS LINE Desghidorah" utilizes the original metal molds from its 2018 release. Master sculptor GOWROW (Yukihiro Taniguchi) crafted the impressive prototype, resulting in a massive figure standing approximately 32cm tall with a length of 49cm, and an imposing wingspan of 68cm. The overall sculpt meticulously captures the rough, rock-like black hide, while its powerful limbs convey a dynamic sense of crawling motion. An included rock-shaped display base helps support the figure. Each of Desghidorah's three heads features distinct details, from horns and eye expressions to mouth shapes, perfectly embodying its brutal and ferocious nature.
Furthermore, the limited edition available through the "Shonen RIC" channel includes a built-in light-up feature. When activated, Desghidorah's eyes and mouths glow with an ominous red light, powerfully conveying its catastrophic might.
