Bandai has officially pulled the curtain back on GUNDAM CROSS, a brand-new toy line themed around the "Mobile Suit Gundam" franchise. The initial wave has also been fully revealed, with detailed information on the "RX-78-2 Gundam & Amuro Ray," "Freedom Gundam & Kira Yamato," and "Wing Gundam & Heero Yuy" sets. All three are scheduled for a September 26, 2026 release.
This new line is a spiritual successor to the popular GUNDAM CLOTH series that was a hit from the late 1980s to the 1990s. The original concept was inspired by another of Bandai's massive successes, the "Saint Seiya" Saint Cloth Series, allowing the Gundam's armor to be worn by the pilot figure, much like a Saint's Cloth. The figures feature cute, SD (Super Deformed) proportions with articulated limbs for playability and come with various weapon accessories. Revived for 2026, GUNDAM CROSS has been re-engineered with modern technology, boasting more refined details and an improved armor attachment system.
The initial wave will feature the protagonists and their signature Mobile Suits from three popular Gundam series. The Amuro, Kira, and Heero pilot figures stand at approximately 9cm tall and feature adorable designs. By attaching the various armor pieces, they transform into their respective Gundams. Each set includes signature accessories like Beam Rifles and shields that can be equipped. Additionally, the Gundam's faceplate is removable, revealing the pilot's face underneath.
