Japanese model manufacturer Kaiyodo showcased an exciting new prototype from their non-articulated plastic model kit series, "ARTPLA," at today's 64th Shizuoka Hobby Show. The latest addition, "ARTPLA SCULPTURE WORKS Gamera (1999) Re:Imagination," is based on the tokusatsu film "Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris," with its release date yet to be announced.

The iconic monster Gamera, who first appeared in the Heisei Trilogy, is depicted as a biological weapon created by an ancient civilization. Its purpose was to combat the man-eating monsters known as Gyaos, utilizing the Earth's life energy, "Mana." Gamera possesses the ability to combine oxygen with its internal plasma energy, unleashing powerful "Plasma Fireballs." After major battles, Gamera's body structure undergoes evolution during its recovery periods, resulting in subtle design changes and increasingly formidable combat capabilities with each subsequent appearance.

The "ARTPLA SCULPTURE WORKS Gamera (1999) Re:Imagination" prototype was sculpted by Shinobu Matsumura, a long-time Kaiyodo veteran widely regarded as Japan's foremost biological sculptor. This stunning piece reinterprets the opening scene of "Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris," where Gamera descends over Shibuya Station to engage in a fierce battle with multiple Gyaos. Matsumura's meticulous craftsmanship captures the shattered ruins of Shibuya Station and its railway infrastructure, a heavily wounded Gyaos that has lost its flight capability, and a ferocious Gamera poised to deliver the final blow with a Plasma Fireball. The scene powerfully evokes the classic cinematic moment when Shibuya is engulfed in flames.
