Anne Hathaway's breakout Disney film, "The Princess Diaries," has long been confirmed for a third installment, which has been in slow development for several years. But beyond "The Princess Diaries," news broke today that another Hathaway-led Disney princess film, "Ella Enchanted," is also getting a new adaptation. However, an exclusive report from Deadline indicates this new project isn't a sequel, but rather a fresh reboot.

The new "Ella Enchanted" will be a series exclusively for Disney+. Beth Schwartz, co-creator of "Arrow," has been tapped as showrunner, with Ilana Wolpert, co-writer of "Anyone But You," penning the script. While Hathaway will not star in the series, she is set to return as an executive producer. The extent of her involvement remains unclear, as such roles are often largely titular.
