Kotobukiya's OSHI WORKS brand, known for its accessible pricing and diverse lineup centered around the concept of "Oshi" (my favorite character), is set to release a new product from the popular anime "The Apothecary Diaries"—a pre-painted figure of Maomao! The suggested retail price is 8,800 JPY, with an estimated release in November 2026.
"The Apothecary Diaries" is a light novel series penned by Japanese author Natsu Hyūga. It was adapted into a TV anime in 2023 by TOHO animation STUDIO and OLM. The story follows Maomao, a young woman from the pleasure district with a keen mind for deduction and extensive pharmacological knowledge, who is unexpectedly sold into the imperial harem as a low-ranking servant. There, amidst the intricate power struggles of the court, she gradually establishes her influence.
This non-scale pre-painted Maomao figure stands approximately 20 cm tall. It faithfully captures her iconic green and magenta outfit from the series, with intricate sculpting that beautifully renders the flowing drapery and wrinkles of her clothes. Details like her low twin-tail hairstyle, ribbons, and hair ornaments are also exquisitely reproduced.
