Bandai Candy's popular Shokugan Modeling Project (SMP) line has just dropped details on its latest release from the classic anime "Brave Exkaiser": the "SMP Brave Exkaiser" set!
Exkaiser, the leader of the Space Police Kaisers, is an energy-based lifeform who came to Earth in pursuit of the Space Pirates. He merged with the protagonist Hoshikawa family's supercar, becoming a transformable fighting robot. By summoning the support vehicle "King Roader" from another dimension, Exkaiser can combine with it to form the mighty "King Exkaiser".
This first "SMP Brave Exkaiser" release will include both the Exkaiser and King Roader mechs. The completed Exkaiser stands approximately 68mm tall, meticulously recreating its on-screen appearance. It features a full transformation gimmick into its sports car mode and boasts impressive articulation, allowing for dynamic poses like jumps and kneeling stances. The King Roader measures around 200mm in length and is packed with its own transformation mechanisms, enabling it to convert into its trailer mode (towed by Exkaiser) and its flight mode for the combination sequence.
The set's main feature is its faithful recreation of the show's iconic nested "FORM UP" combination. After transforming the King Roader, its armor panels open up, allowing the entire Exkaiser figure to be placed inside its core. This process, which requires no parts-swapping or removal, completes the 150mm tall "King Exkaiser". Thanks to clever engineering, when you move King Exkaiser's limbs, the joints of the inner Exkaiser move in tandem.
Accessories include an articulation-focused frame part and larger, aesthetically-pleasing expressive hands for swapping, which enable waist swivel and give the hands a more anime-accurate proportion. The set also comes with a faceplate revealing Exkaiser's mouth, the Kaiser Sword, and a golden blade effect part to recreate dynamic battle poses and its signature "Thunder Flash" finishing move.
