BANDAI CANDY, the candy toy division of Bandai, has announced a major evolution of its popular GK-style Mobile Suit Gundam candy toy model series, “GUNDAM ARTIFACT.” The new item, “GUNDAM ARTIFACT PRO Full Armor Gundam,” is scheduled to ship in November 2026.
FA-78-1 Full Armor Gundam is an upgraded mobile suit concept proposed by the “RX Project” development team under the “FSWS（Full-armor System and Weapon System）” plan, which was designed to heavily arm the RX-78 series. Additional armor is applied to areas with a higher chance of taking hits, including the chest, shoulders, arms, legs, and waist, while weaponry integrated into the armor is also added. Its armaments include a 360mm rocket cannon, a twin beam gun on the right arm, missile bays in the chest and legs, and a control system in the backpack. Since adding this much equipment naturally reduces overall mobility, multiple auxiliary thrusters are also added to the backpack and legs.
The new sub-line “GUNDAM ARTIFACT PRO” is a semi-finished model kit made with plastic and alloy parts. It carries over the distinctive industrial-style armor reinterpretation and high-density mechanical detailing of the original “GUNDAM ARTIFACT” series, while increasing the size to approximately 10cm tall. The figure also incorporates multi-layered movable joints, and certain armor and hydraulic cylinder parts move in tandem as the joints bend, allowing for smooth articulation with a more human-like range of motion.
“GUNDAM ARTIFACT PRO Full Armor Gundam” uses alloy parts in areas such as the abdomen, thigh frame, and knee joints, enhancing both joint strength and the metallic feel of the model. The Gundam body itself comes pre-assembled, offering a complete sculpt, color layout, and improved articulation even on its own. By attaching the exterior armor parts, collectors can complete the heavily armed Full Armor Gundam form.
For weapons, the kit includes standard RX-78 series equipment such as a beam rifle, two beam sabers, and a shield, along with the armor-mounted 360mm rocket cannon and right-arm twin beam gun. The beam saber storage sections on the outer calves are also recreated. The beam rifle can be fitted with an original grenade launcher part, while the rear skirt armor features an original weapon gimmick: opening the armor reveals built-in micro missiles inside.
