Bandai Candy is taking its popular, garage kit-styled "Mobile Suit Gundam" candy toy line, GUNDAM ARTIFACT, to the next level. Today, the company announced a major evolution with the new "GUNDAM ARTIFACT PRO High Mobility Type Zaku II (Black Tri-Stars Custom)," slated for a November 2026 release.
Famed Zeon ace pilots Gaia, Mash, and Ortega—collectively known as the "Black Tri-Stars"—are legendary. While they are famously defeated in their high-performance Doms using the "Jet Stream Attack" against the Gundam in the original series, their true combat prowess was immense. Long before the One Year War, their skills were renowned, culminating in their capture of Earth Federation Forces Commander-in-Chief General Revil at the Battle of Loum. This feat earned them the superior "MS-06R-1A High Mobility Type Zaku II," the very machine they piloted before transitioning to ground combat on Earth.
The all-new sub-series, GUNDAM ARTIFACT PRO, utilizes a combination of plastic and die-cast parts in a semi-finished model format. It carries over the signature GUNDAM ARTIFACT aesthetic, featuring industrial-style armor designs and high-density mechanical details that diverge from the original anime. The scale is bumped up to approximately 10cm (3.9 inches) tall and incorporates a complex multi-joint articulation system. Some armor panels and hydraulic pipes are even designed to move in conjunction with the joints, allowing for incredibly smooth, human-like posability.
The "GUNDAM ARTIFACT PRO High Mobility Type Zaku II (Black Tri-Stars Custom)" boasts a complete, fully articulated inner frame. Die-cast components are used in multiple areas, including the chest, waist, and thighs, to enhance joint strength and provide a premium metallic feel. Key sections like the head and inner frame come pre-assembled, so collectors can complete the stunning final look simply by attaching the armor parts. The signature power pipes are made from a flexible material to minimize interference with articulation.
In terms of armament, the figure includes the Zaku Machine Gun, Zaku Bazooka, and Heat Hawk. The side skirt armor can store spare machine gun magazines, while the right shoulder shield can hold extra bazooka rounds. Additionally, two head variants are included—a standard type and a commander type with an antenna—allowing for easy customization.
