BANDAI HOBBY, the model kit division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS, has officially announced the latest addition to its highly diverse 1/144 scale Gunpla "HG (High Grade)" series: the "HG 1/144 Gundam Virsago" from "After War Gundam X," slated for release in October 2026.
The NRX-0013 Gundam Virsago and NRX-0015 Gundam Ashtaron were next-generation mobile suits developed by the Old Federation Army Remnant Government's Reconstruction Committee after the end of the Seventh Space War, piloted by the infamous Frost Brothers. The high-output Gundam Virsago is equipped with a chest-mounted MEGA Sonic Cannon that can converge and disperse its beam, and sharp Attack Claws on both arms to grapple enemies for close-range bombardment. The transforming Gundam Ashtaron boasts massive size and propulsion, allowing the Gundam Virsago to ride atop it for high-speed, long-range travel in its Mobile Armor (MA) form. Together, the notorious brothers utilized their exceptional teamwork and coordinated tactics to maximize the machines' advantages.
The "HG 1/144 Gundam Virsago" is meticulously crafted with entirely new molds, developed using Bandai's latest engineering techniques. It boasts the precise sculpting, excellent color separation, and advanced articulation expected from a modern HG kit. While faithfully reproducing the original design's refined armor, the kit also features updated proportions that align with contemporary aesthetic trends, showcasing sharper, more angular armor lines. For weaponry, the kit includes the dual Assault Shooter rifles (which can combine) and a Beam Saber. Furthermore, the Attack Claws on both arms feature an extending gimmick, and the abdomen can replicate the deployment mechanism for the MEGA Sonic Cannon during its firing sequence.
