BANDAI SPIRITS' Gunpla division, BANDAI HOBBY, has officially unveiled the latest addition to its highly diverse 1/144 scale High Grade (HG) model kit series: the "HG 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron" from "After War Gundam X." This new kit is slated for release in November 2026.
The NRX-0013 Gundam Virsago and NRX-0015 Gundam Ashtaron were next-generation mobile suits developed by the Old Federation Army Remnants' Reconstruction Committee following the end of the Seventh Space War, famously piloted by the Frost Brothers. The high-output Gundam Virsago featured a chest-mounted Mega Sonic Cannon capable of both convergent and dispersive firing, along with sharp Assault Claws on its arms designed to grapple enemy units for point-blank bombardment. The transformable Gundam Ashtaron, meanwhile, boasted a massive frame and powerful propulsion. In its Mobile Armor (MA) form, it could transport the Gundam Virsago for high-speed, long-range engagements, allowing the notorious Frost Brothers to exploit their machines' strengths through impeccable teamwork and coordinated tactics.
The "HG 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron" is an all-new mold, developed with Bandai's latest Gunpla technology. It boasts the precise detailing, excellent color separation, and advanced articulation expected from a modern HG kit. While faithfully recreating the sophisticated armor design from the series, its proportions have been subtly adjusted to align with contemporary aesthetic trends, featuring sharper, more angular armor lines. Beyond its flexible joint design, the kit can transform into its Mobile Armor (MA) form through part swapping, allowing the separately sold companion unit, the "Gundam Virsago," to dock and recreate their iconic combined assault tactics.
For weaponry, the kit includes a Beam Saber and a Beam Lance that can transform into a crossbow configuration. The massive Atomic Scissors mounted on the backpack are fully articulated with multiple flexible axes, allowing for seamless deployment and storage without needing to swap parts. This ensures dynamic attack poses can be achieved in both Mobile Suit (MS) and Mobile Armor (MA) forms.
